Smoking and smokers were demonized for years now they turn their eye on the overweight.

What makes them think they ever had the right or power to force us to do anything to begin with? Unless we give that power to them like the people of New York have to Bloomberg. They have no power to determine what and how much we eat.

What gets me is if our leadership is really so concerned about obesity they wouldn't punish people for having back or front yard gardens.

It's probably all about control and getting more taxes, fees and fines out of anything we do, need, consume or enjoy. :sigh

I like the one commenters remarks about this resembling treating citizens like livestock or pets. That's about how I view our leaders attitudes toward us.

The World Economic Forum has some notable past achievements in healthcare, such as galvanizing support for the fight against AIDS and the vaccination of children in poor countries, but tackling the rise in obesity promises to be a much more complicated task.
