This recipe is now my "go-to" bread recipe if I make homemade bread. Oh and it's soooo good. Tastes a little like Hawiian bread. Sweet, soft & it's addictive when just baked- I don't want to stop eating imho. I made it as the recipe states the first time but didn't rise that well for me. May have been my yeast. Next time I decided to double it as I don't like to make bread every day I also probably use more yeast. I use a whole pack of rapid rise yeast rather than the teaspoon called for (doubling the recipe would mean 2 packs) Another thing I do differently is I use the dough setting. Then turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape or cut into rolls and bake. Doubling it makes 2 pans of rolls (9x13 pans). My pans are metal with metal lids (which I love) I just put the 2nd pan in the frig and next night I put the whole pan in to re-heat and this bread does reheat well. Please note that doubling it will probably overfill your bread machine pan! So DON'T DOUBLE unless you're going to take the dough out of the bread machine pan. :): Amish Bread Recipe for the Bread Machine 2 3/4 C. flour 1/4 C. canola oil (I used vegetable oil) 1 tsp. bread machine yeast 1/4 C. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1 C. + 2 Tbsp. warm water A recipe for Amish bread for the bread machine may be pretty ironic, but it’s also pretty tasty! For this recipe, set your bread machine settings to light crust. Makes a 1 1/2 lb. loaf http://www.mommysavers.com/2011/01/amish-bread-recipe-for-the-bread-machine/ note this is not where I got the recipe (I think I got it from "allrecipes.com" :shrug Edited by Blessedx4, August 4, 2012, 7:02 pm.
