When you have the box open to post text (reply, not quick reply), just below the box where you type text is a place to upload an attachment. However, when I used it, it gave a link to the image rather than placing the image in the post itself. I need to try playing around with it a little more... |

Hmmm. I don't know why it's not working for some of you. Inserts an image just fine for me. FWIW, here's what the code looks like for the photo in my previous post. NOTE: There should be no spaces after the first bracket. [ IMG]http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4068/4705702157_6ac3eebcfb_o.jpg[/IMG] Also, Wouldn't attaching an image like that be stealing bandwidth? Actually Scott, attaching a photo the way I did uploads it to the server here so it is not bandwidth theft. However, just using the image code on an image that lives on somebody else's website (like you did) IS bandwidth theft. The image code tags are intended for posting pictures on web space that you already own or control (such as photobucket or flickr or tinypic). |

No, the way I did it was to click the image button (icon?) then insert the image url in the popup then click "post reply," just the way you explained it in your first post. It was when I was replying to that (my own) message later that the image code tags became visible. I don't think this works the way that you think it does. Yes, I understand the mechanics of how you posted the image using the image tags. However, you did not upload the image to the board servers, it still lives at Boston Public Library (isn't that where you said you got the image from?), that is why it is considered bandwidth theft. By using the attachment feature, it actually uploads the image to our server here, then links the image to the post. You can still use the image tags to post photos, you just need to upload them to your own webspace first (photobucket etc.). Posted Image |

Oh, and I don't think the image you used actually constitutes bandwidth theft as it is from a public library PUBLIC flikr account. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can use it freely in that form. Most websites don't like you to direct link (hotlink) from their page. |
