UXBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — A woman told police she drove her car into a sand trap on a Massachusetts golf course because her GPS sent her the wrong way.

Police say she was drunk.

Some friends and I were going to tour old plantation houses, and the driver had put the address of one of the houses into her GPS. We're driving along when the GPS tells us right turn coming up, we looked ahead and didn't see a road only a corn field :headscratch . We keep driving and the GPS says turn right, then more insistently, "Turn right!". The problem was there was still only a corn field to the right :fear . We were all jokin that there must be a short cut through the corn field but we still didn't take that right hand turn :no

Even if the GPS gave bad directions, couldn't she see the golf course in front of her?

Stacy - did the GPS tell you to make a U turn?

This is why you check the map on the GPS. The one we had in Hawaii kept going "bear left, bear right" instead of turn- which was confuinsg becuase some roads were more of a "Y" and you WOULD bear that direction - but others were a literal turn. And the thing told us to turn but dad thought we were too close to the road so went stright... with all of us going DAD! you were supposed to turn there. (The GPS was right this time, just the person driving didn't interpert it.) When I use a GPS I'm always glancing at it to make sure I know where the right turn is.

And a good GPS will tel lyou the road your supposed to be turning on as well so you can check that. When in doubt slow down and/or pull over.

Nope no u turn. We were on the right side of the road, on a 2 lane road and it didn't even have shoulders. The GPS was just giving bad directions.

She was probably drunk. Had some friends their GPS gave them directions to an old deserted Wall Mart location. The grandma knew where the new WM was but they were still convinced the GPS was correct.
Grannie told them the old GPS of common sence worked better than these new ones..... :hysterical
