The White House will halt the deportation of as many as 800,000 young illegal immigrants and in some cases give them work permits, in a sweeping new initiative announced by the Department of Homeland Security. The process will begin sometime in the next 60 days. People under 30 who entered the country illegally or overstayed their visas when they were under the age of 16 will be immune from deportation if they have not committed a significant misdemeanor or felony and have graduated from a U.S. high school or joined the military. They can apply for a renewable two-year work permit that won't provide a path to citizenship. Applicants will have to prove they've lived in the country for five consecutive years. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/report-white-house-halt-deportation-young-illegal-immigrants-133800284.html |

Wish Martha Stewart was My Sister!

I started to say he has no morals or values . . . but then I realized, of course he does! It's just that my list of morals and values are different than his. Legal citizens of the United States should be up in arms over this! |

I disagree with this descision. If their here illegally they should be deported immediately. Even if they hhd children here ,if the parents are illegal they will be deported. I believe that this decision was only a poltical ploy by Obama. |

Obama is ruling by decree. Many presidents have made executive orders but most limited the areas to military situations or emergency situations like 911, earthquakes, hurricanes etc. Obama is throwing his weight around in areas he shouldn't IMHO the government here could come up with some type of work visas, make the process for becoming a citizen simpler and faster. Just to get a handle on WHO is coming in, where they're going, how long they're staying, what they're doing when they get here. I have no issues with Latino's at all. I do have a problem with drug running, and other criminals coming across. And who knows what or who else. And what they do when they get here. What he has done is NOT addressing the problem. It's a campaign ploy. Also a new problem I'm becoming aware of ....I was reading a few days ago kids are coming across unaccompanied by adults. ( Link, Link, Link ) That's a situation rife for exploitation and crime. Who here is hiring kids? We have child labor laws. Who else knows what happens to these kids :(: Allowing Illegal Immigrants with Criminal Pasts to Avoid Deportation

At what point does a society get so fed up with a corrupt gov't that there is a revolution? That's what I feel, that it's getting to that point. So many laws made in the last years of how the gov't can stay in control when the populace finally says enough. The gov't has done nothing but dismantle everything this country stood for and destroyed every chance for recovery. The elected officials are no longer representing the people in any way shape or form. I'd prefer to stay Switzerland when it all comes to a head. Is there a way to do that? :lol Civil war is never pretty but lots of people in history had to deal with it. Nothing says that we are guaranteed a soft cushy life. Except the elected officials that are pushing this farce. |

Soooo if at the age of 13 I snuck across the boarder into Mexico and managed to live in that country illegally for 5 years, never got into trouble, illegally went to a Mexican high school and graduated from it they'll let me stay in the country and even provide me with a 2 year renewable work permit? I mean if the U.S. is doing that for illegal aliens, (the vast majority of which are Latino) Mexico is going to do it for illegal aliens in their country right? How about we all as a collective group just break whatever law we don't like just like the illegal immigrants do by crossing our boarder. Everyone at once can just stop paying taxes. No one likes taxes, just about everyone agrees that the tax laws need to be reworked, so we'll all just not pay them until the government reworks them. We don't like Obamacare so we can just refuse to purchase health insurance then when they slap the fines on us we'll refuse to pay them. We'll do that till they read the darned bill and rewrite the thing so that it's understandable and only contains health care related laws, or they repeal it. Congratulations Obama, you've just proved that if enough people break a law the law does not need to be followed! |

Now that I'm through ranting.... I've never understood why, if a person was illegally brought over by their parents when he was a child, doesn't the person apply for U.S. citizenship. I do agree with Blessed, and I've been saying it, our immigration laws need to be reworked. I know of one guy who is from Germany but went to college here in the U.S., he wants to become a U.S. citizen and he says the red tape and the run around he's getting is unbelievable. |

How about mandatory 5 years in the military with honorable discharge before they can apply for citizenship. If they decline, say bye bye. |
