(CNSNews.com) - Although President Barack Obama said in a speech last week that during his time in office "we've gone through three and a half years of very difficult times," the last recession ended three years ago this month--in June 2009--and since then the United States has been in an economic expansion period, according to the Business Cycle Dating Committee of the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Are they smoking something other than tobacco, or did they slip into an alternate universe?

It is possible we slipped into a new recession. :shrug

honestly I don't know but it doesn't FEEL like we came out of the recession to me.

Milk is still too high for us to buy.

I have to choose meats on sale or just don't buy- it's gotten so expensive it's almost a luxury.

Fortunately frozen individually frozen fish isn't too bad- I make meals of baked fish for lunch

We don't buy candy anymore. I used to keep something around. That's partially because of my diabetes but also because it's gotten so high we can't afford it- it's a luxury.

I can come up with a hefty list of stuff we are not buying because of price. I was just over at a coupon website trying to get updated coupons- which hopefully will help some.

The problem I have with coupons is they're often for stuff I don't buy even when I have extra cash. I can't see stocking up on hair color or half the stuff they have copuons for.

I recall having heard this proclamation in early 2010. It was no more accurate then as it is now.
