I would have been here posting earlier than today but I was coming up on my impending left shoulder surgery. (Again.)

Turns out that the first shoulder surgery I had wasn't the best job....so half of what this guy did was a repair of what the OTHER guy did. However, THIS time I did my research; the guy who did my surgery this time has done literally thousands of them, and has been doing them for >30 years. He's a specialist, so this is ALL he does.

Anyways...he went in and was done about 20 minutes later; pain was caused by a TON of scar tissue that was probably generated from when the previous guy failed to remove all of the bone spurs. He also said that I am prone to generating a lot of scar tissue, and the prevention for that is to start moving ASAP.

I had to spend a day in a sling, and a week on light duty, and that's it - the surgery was orthoscopic, so other than being *REAL* sore, all is well. :) Good thing I have a high tolerance for pain. He DID tell me to continue doing whatever I was doing (CrossFit) because it was obviously working. :D

ooo when I saw the title I went "Again??"

Now was this the guy (1st one) you prased before? or was this a different surgury? I think I recall you having something done where you really liked the doc... or am I imagining things?

Hope you recover quickly. :): :pray

LadySharon - it was a different doctor, and I did like him. LOL I thought he did a good job. Right up until the current doctor told me to take my shirt off and exclaimed "HOOooly moly" when he saw the incision scars on my shoulder. He said "...you had what done? And who did it again?" (In other words, in doc-speak, he essentially said "What hack did THIS?!" LOL)

In short, the current doctor said "While I don't want to cast aspersions on what the other doc did, I'm having trouble seeing why he had to create a 3" incision in your shoulder...this could have been done orthoscopically."

So far I believe him; he removed more scar tissue than the previous doc did, as well as some bone spurs; and he did that in about 1/3 of the time the previous guy did. Additionally, because I had a nerve block this time, the pain level is VASTLY improved.

Blessed - even if the doctor thinks that it's not necessary (and in truth, what he says carries more weight than the previous doc because most of whom he works on are athletes), I'll probably still pay for a few sessions, just in case. I plan on continuing my CrossFit regimen, and I want to ensure any healing is done correctly.
