Hi, everybody! Jump in, the water's fine . . . What should we call this thread, here at our new digs?

I'm not sure the ND (Not Deceived) part carries over well . . . so many folks don't know the story & the guy who said the all of us at the original RR board were deceived hasn't been around in years. Chat Central was all I could think of, besides "Chat Stew" and I'm sure that phrase is copyrighted. :lol But, we can always get a mod to change the title for us, I'll bet! :nod

Hi there! Yeah, I haven't posted for a long time, but thought I'd drop by and say "hi". I almost freaked out when I clicked the icon on my bookmarks bar and it said the old board was closed! That's what I get for being lazy and not checking for so long.

It's so neat to see folks who haven't been around in a log, and very long, time! :happytears

We are without power. Had a white-out style hail storm a little over an hour ago. It cracked ds's windshield up & we lost a couple limbs off the big pecan tree out back. Some neighbors lost fence sections. I can hear a loud neighbor a few doors down the street talking about damage around town. DS went to a buddy's house in the next subdivision south of us. I'm as bad as his generation - no tv, no internet, no air conditioning? :run

:pound

Okay, gonna read til the sun goes behind the mountains. Hope y'all are having a great Memorial Day.

ACK! I'm an idiot!!! I was going to copy the long post I made in anything goes about the cat show to my blog when I got everything from my trip caught up. I finally did and suddenly remembered that I needed to copy that post - - it's the only one I forgot about and now I'm guessing it's gone. :( (as the board is down.) I don't know if I can re-create it. sigh.

Barb: If you are without power - how are you getting on the internet? My dsl modem would be out if I was without power, and dial up would be too slow.

Did you go somewhere?

Sounds like a nasty storm, Barb - we're supposed to get thunderstorms in the St. Louis area after 9 PM.

I'm pooped - had a busy day. The Calvary Chapel that we attend has a float in the local Shriners' parade every year and the parade is this Friday evening. Before the parade, we hand out sandwich sized bags of popcorn with tracts attached. Today was the marathon day to put together all the popcorn bags. Two guys got to the church at 4 AM and started popping the popcorn. DH and I arrived around 8 AM. I helped scoop the popcorn into the Ziploc bags, but then my back started to hurt, so I stapled tracts onto the plastic bags. 3000 bags of popcorn were prepared and put into bigger bags to hand out at the parade. DS didn't want to help, but DH drove home around 11 AM and brought him to church to help. We then started stuffing candy and trinkets into bags to hand out during the parade. This will have to be completed Wednesday night, since the labels for the front ran out and we're waiting on the stickers for the inside of the bag. DH and I are going to walk in the parade, since the high temperature for Friday is only going to be 70 degrees. The parade route is 5 miles long, so it's a good hike. DS should be hiking in this parade too, but he claims one of his friends is having a birthday party Friday night. :rolleyes

Hi Joel! :wave And hi to you too, elac! :wave

We lose our modem w/ power loss as well.

I'm finally filling my cheese craving tonight. I have a pizza pasta casserole in the oven. It smells really good!

We need to eat kind of early. DS has rehearsal and DH is going to go visit his daughter so I'll have much of the evening to myself. :):

I got my resume updated today and e-mailed to a couple of places. Wednesday I will get hard copies printed out and will make in-person visits to several local offices.

Sharon, I'm afraid it really is gone. Sorry.

I think I might kick back and watch Hatfields and McCoys during my quiet-alone-evening. :):

I was posting from my android phone. It was soooo slow doing that too. Found out later, the cell tower a half mile north of us was twisted in half. The new shopping center about a mile west of us looks like the metal roofs on the buildings were peeled open with a can opener. There were still power lines down along the main road a half mile south of our subdivision when we came home a little bit ago. (We drove to the center of town to look at the apts. - had an old pear tree split in half over there; and we stopped at Carl's Jr. for turkey burgers for dinner.) The hail was so bad at the tv station, which is about 2-1/2 miles from here, that every car in the parking lot was damaged. Some had windows broken out. We have power again - and the electric company is all over the east side of town, replacing snapped power poles & stringing new lines. Nice to have lights back on!

Oh, I guess there were some injuries during the storm too, but I missed the first few minutes of the news so I haven't heard any of the details.

It got to 99 degrees today, and it was humid, which set us up for the storms this evening. Wichita Falls, TX (about 50 miles south of us) was pounded pretty hard - a small town just east of there was having 100 mph wind gusts, tho' no tornadoes were reported. We're supposed to have the same conditions tomorrow too.

Wow Barb! (I was going to say "goodness" but then saw Cathy's post...) Sounds like a tornado to me! I can't believe they say there wasn't one.

I JUST finished updating my blog with a weeks worth of vacation stuff. So if you want to read about my vacation go here: http://ladysharon3710.blogspot.com/ I know I promised pictures too but haven't been able to get around to doing that. I did transfer them from the cards to the computer though.

night!

I love storms like what you guys had! I hate when stuff gets wrecked and people get hurt though too!
Kinda hard to have both I assume.
We had a 92 degree day yesterday and another scortcher today is forecast. Maybe we'll get some t showers also!

Love from Canada

Good morning, all!

The newspaper has a long list of damaged businesses and pictures of fallen trees & smashed windows this morning. I'm hoping we don't get that weather again this evening, though it is forecast. Hope you get some rain tho', John. Won't that make it steamy humid? I always like a fresh wind to come in & blow away the humidity this time of the year.

I'm feeling real blessed right now: I tossed out the tenants last week who were stealing electricity and wreaking havoc at the corner downtown and a lady called me this morning to rent it. I rent 2 1-br apts to 2 brothers there and she has been a long term girlfriend of another one of their brothers. Those guys were so happy I tossed the bad tenants and had their mess hauled off at the end of the week that they recommended me to her. She's signing the lease this afternoon.

edited to add: I reported those tenants to the electric company & they sent a crew right out to padlock that meter and to replace and padlock my meter. :getdown
