Wish Martha Stewart was My Sister!

Posted Image Hi, everybody! Jump in, the water's fine . . . What should we call this thread, here at our new digs? I'm not sure the ND (Not Deceived) part carries over well . . . so many folks don't know the story & the guy who said the all of us at the original RR board were deceived hasn't been around in years. Chat Central was all I could think of, besides "Chat Stew" and I'm sure that phrase is copyrighted. :lol But, we can always get a mod to change the title for us, I'll bet! :nod Posted Image |

Good morning, Cathy, Heather, Gamer, and Sharon!
:wave Gonna be a steamy hot day in SW Oklahoma. Sharon, the lady didn't know what gun those bullets went to. She said she had a .25 revolver many years ago but they didn't fit it. She thinks the .25 is packed away in her house somewhere. (Guns in Oklahoma households are very common, so no real worry. We usually know how to handle 'em if we have 'em.) Speaking of guns, have y'all heard our governor signed an open carry bill into law? As of Nov. 1, if you have a carry permit, you can legally carry a gun openly. A lot of retired Army folks I know have gleefully ordered shoulder holsters this past week. Our Sheriff said he has some reservations about it but he thinks it'll be a good thing. He believes the majority of our residents are decent, law-abiding folks and he says they should have a right to protect themselves. We are headed back to the days of the true Wild West, aren't we? :pound |

Well, it is the end times. Got up at 4 am, went to work. Done with work now, and at home. Tomorrow I just get groceries. |

Hi y'all :grouphug Wow, another earthquake hit E. Tx that makes 4 this month. Who moved Tx to California? :confused Barb, I think that law abiding citizens are getting tired of the crime and are becoming more willing to defend themselves. Who ordered the heat:hot? It came to me by mistake, please come pick it up! I ordered 80 degree weather and afternoon showers, not 95 degree weather and no rain. |

Hello everyone! Finally got over here. It's really disconcerting to see the OP at the beginning of every page of a thread. I keep thinking that I'm on the first page still. Is there some way to fix that? So sorry about your job, Cathy. :hug Hope you find another one soon, or that you get your unemployment benefits. Barb, it's hot here in SW Illinois too today - even hotter tomorrow. :hot Time to write another book. :blush My DH has had pain in his left shoulder for the last 6 weeks. He had an X-ray which showed he had some arthritis. He is still having pain and the doctor wants to order an MRI. My insurance should pay for it, but the doctor has to convince my insurance that he needs it. He has a lump on his back in the shoulder area. I am so worried that it might be cancer. Things are not going well for my Thirty-One business. :(: I have a gal who is having a catalog party and one of her friends wants to have a party, so I brought 2 hostess packets to her house on Wednesday night. I messaged her on FB to see how things were going, but haven't heard back from her yet. On Thursday night, I had a table at a bunco party. It cost me $15.00, to help cover the hall rent. There were several other vendors there, like Pampered Chef, Scentsy, etc. Well, no one showed up to play bunco. I gave miniature catalogs with my info to the other vendors, some of who had 31 bags. That was a bust. My upline wants to have a booking blitz on Tuesday & Wednesday evening where we call everyone we know and ask them to host a party. She is giving gift card incentives to those who get the most bookings and chances for the hosts to get 31 gift certificates. I'm hoping this goes well. We have been operating on very low funds here. I have an old set of wedding rings that are missing a couple of diamond chips. I was going to have the diamonds removed and reset in a ring for my right hand, but never got around to it. I took the rings to a gold dealer and she took out the stones and gave me $64.00 for the rings. We used the money for gas for the Jeep, some groceries and a new pair of summer sandals for me for work. DH is insistent on going to Branson next month for vacation, even though we really can't afford it. I think the bills need to get paid first and I have tried to tell him that, but he gets angry. A vacation is a luxury, not a necessity, in my book. :frusty I did apply for 2 legal secretarial jobs this week and hope I get one of them. One is for a worldwide law firm and the other is for a local brokerage firm. I was a legal assistant at a broker/dealer before I started working where I am now, so I'm familiar with the terminology. Praying I get one of these jobs. If DH gets less hours or has to quit because of his shoulder, we will really need the extra money. I keep praying for the Lord to be my Jehovah Jireh, but no answer yet. :cry :sorry I wrote a book again. Hope everyone's having a good Saturday evening! |

Rainbo, I'm pretty freaked about the quakes. I moved here to get away from them. Insurance will not cover quake damage, either. :doh Diane, sorry things are tough. My vending business is barely making anything. People aren't just bringing their own sodas, they're bringing generic brand. They can't even afford the name brand at Walmart, much less my machines. I just have to leave it up to God. He won't let us starve. |

:hug Diane, I'm so sorry things aren't going better. If I had extra money I'd love to look at your catalog and buy something, but I have to go to MD Anderson in Houston next month and it's going to cost what little extra money I have. I do know how God has rescued me at the 11th hour in the past and I know he'll do the same for you! It's why I love that song On Time God, it has the lyric He may not come early but He never comes late, my God is an on time God. I'm praying that nothing major is wrong with your DH's shoulder and that you get one of those jobs. Heather, at least none of the quakes have been really strong, and no major property damage has been reported. Seems earthquake insurance is like flood insurance and has to be purchased separately. A 20 oz coke from Walmart now cost $1.59 I flat out refuse to pay that much. I very rarely drink soft drinks anyway I can happily due without them. |

Hi, all! Happy to see you over here, Diane! :hug I am praying for you, your dh, and all of your needs. I know I would make no $$ at all on a business like Thirty-One (or Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Scentsy, etc). If we lived closer, I'd come to one of your parties tho'. (I can come to these parties & buy a few things but can't be the person w/the business.) :): Praying for you too, Stacy, and your trip to MD Anderson! :hug Love the lyrics to that song. I buy a large iced tea most afternoons, but wait till they're half-price at Sonic. :heh Edited by barb43, May 26, 2012, 7:40 pm.

Diane sorry to hear about hubby and your business. Praying one of those jobs will be yours. I have been making iced coffee at home. Lipton has these little packets picked up at Target for $2.25 a box, flavor is blackberry pomegranet. It is so very good. It is flavored with honey. Picked up a strawberry, one with another ingrediant have not tried yet. Rainbow that has to be scary with so many earthquakes. |

It's funny I was like "yah!" when I read your post. I'm weird about guns. I'm technically anti-gun. They make me nervous. But I respect the 2nd amendment (which btw to me extends not just to guns but any "arm" but that may just be my op. ) What I HATE is CONCEALED carry. I wince whenever I hear laws passed granting people the right to hide a gun on their person. If you have a gun... I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT. But I'm fine with people carrying openly (just not in my house unless your on duty police/military or under certain circumstances) I know it would give me the willies to see someone with a gun... but the more people I saw carring in shoulder/hip/whatever holsters the more I'd get used to it. And would a guy be more likely or less likely to rob a bank if half the customers and some of the tellers were packing? Bottom line - I'd PERFER a open carry law. |

I agree! It's so weird... people say "I like this" or "I like that" and all the stuff they like... I don't. I also don't like it that it's an either/or as far as selecting where you want to start a thread. There is an option in your prefrences to go to the newest unread post in a thread - but sometimes I want to go to the "unread post" and other times I'll open a thread, read a few posts and then want to go back later and DON'T want to go to what the board thinks is the unread post - because it doesn't know I didn't read all the posts that were there when I opened the thread. (Does this make sence?) Anyway - I'm sorry about your business and DH. Is there anyone (preferably godly man) that you could get to talk to your husband and explain that the money should be used for other things? As for the business - I admit I don't trust stuff like that. Everytime I've tried something like that or have known people to try things like that (anything where you have to "host" a party) they fail. I'm surprised that Avon and mary K do well. In fact I think they are just about the only business of that type that does work -- but only if you can get a working client list right away. I admit I don't even know what type of business the 31 thing is |

I probably could, it was teeny enough, maybe 4 or 5 mm long. But Simon took a shine to it. :shrug |

Y'know, Sharon, this is one of the things I'm wondering about: how am I gonna feel when I start seeing people openly wearing holsters? :twitch It will take some getting used to. I'm wondering if people will be calling each other out in the street for shoot outs? I hope not. We'll just have to see how this plays out. We've been speculating that the concealed carry law is probably what has reduced the amount of road rage here. You just don't know who might be carrying what! On another subject, I saved off some pm's . . . and have now lost that word doc that I was pasting them in. :ohbrother That snail shell sounds pretty cute, Cathy. Think I'll call it a night & go to bed. |
