Hi, everybody! Jump in, the water's fine . . . What should we call this thread, here at our new digs?

I'm not sure the ND (Not Deceived) part carries over well . . . so many folks don't know the story & the guy who said the all of us at the original RR board were deceived hasn't been around in years. Chat Central was all I could think of, besides "Chat Stew" and I'm sure that phrase is copyrighted. :lol But, we can always get a mod to change the title for us, I'll bet! :nod

Hi y'all!

Made it to Houston, and I'm killin time till they scan me. Then I get to go and get a different scan. It's been a long day :tired

Gotta tell ya what happened when I got to Houston yesterday. I went out and caught a cab, but the cabby decided to circle the block, then he stopped at a store, by then I was getting very aggravated and muttering to myself :sigh . He then starts toward the hotel but spots someone and asks her if she wants a ride, she said yes and ran back inside to do something before coming back out. It must have taken her 5 minutes or more to come back out :mmph By that time I'm a really unhappy camper. Finally we're on our way to the hotel.

Along the way I happen to mention that the American Cancer Society helps with hotels but you stay at whatever one they put you in. So the woman ask if I have cancer, when I said yes she replied "I'd like to pray for you." :wow So when we got to my hotel she prayed for me :happytears It never ceases to amaze me how God works, and puts people in our lives. By the way the cabby had asked the woman if someone in her family was a preacher, she said no, but her mom prayed. She then replied that she herself didn't pray that often anymore. God is good!

Rainbo- Nice! I hope the cabby didn't charge you extra for all the running around though.

We have a very bad wildfire going on right now in the state - It's way north west of me but the smoke is covering the whole state - you can smell it strongly if your outside.

I understand that they can smell it in Texas!

I'm hiding in the house!

When Ron wakes up (we need a nap) we will do some accounting stuff and then I have tomorrow off.

Rainbo, I'm sorry the cab driver was playing games!

Who are you hiding from, Heather?

Glad you got to Houston okay, Stacy! That's pretty neat that lady prayed for you that way.

Saw pictures of that fire, Sharon - it looks really huge.

DS helped me around the house this morning, which was really neat. He sorted a bunch of his old clothes; kept what he wanted & let me pick through the rest to see what would go in a garage sale (the rest was so worn out, they went in the trash :lol ).

At the office working on a photo order right now.

OH, hiding from the heat. Heat index of over 100.

All my medications carry warnings "Don't get overheated!" I got pretty sick a few years back. I had a sack of "done up Bibles" to hand out. I was so sick I just gave them to a Walmart employee and said "Share these with your co-workers"

I ended up taking a cab home. I do it seldom, generally when I am sick or too exhausted to take the bus.

Ah, yes, the heat. It's pretty bad here and I'll bet it's worse where you are. We are supposed to have a cold front come in & bring rain. My weather tooth isn't saying anything about that yet.

DH saw the doc today, no more crutches and no more splint. So, there's some good news.

I've got quiche in the oven for dinner, yum. :):

I'm still really struggling with the trust issue thing. It goes back to my step-daughter again, it always does. :sigh My DH is the "guilty party", but the step-daughter is always ALWAYS at the center of the "trouble". I just don't know... I'm tired of being the least important person in a marriage of three people.

Cathy that post is a :joy and a :hug together. I'm glad your DH got his cast off.

I hope and pray you two will be able to work through your issues.

I was also praying that you'd get a job offer soon.

You know you probably can't fix that - right? He has to want to behave differently. He has to choose to change. His stepdaughter isn't about to change - it's to her advantage that she can snap her fingers and he'll jump through hoops. I'd guess there's guilt involved, probably, but 'why' is his issue and his riddle to solve. (Something was said right after the first of the year about stepfamilies and the new spouse driving in wedges, etc. and I asked Sweetie if he thinks it's 'my fault' that his grown sons are not in his life? He said oh, heck no! He assured me it's nothing I've done - it's choices they've made. I do work to stay out of his family mess as much as possible, tho' there are some days . . . :whistle )

That's great news that your dh is off crutches, etc! :clap . . . and I'm still praying for your job situation.

That quiche sounds pretty good too - I settled for a spaghetti & popcorn chicken tv dinner tonight. :drama
:heh (I really had too much going on to cook dinner this evening.)

How's your job situation, Sharon? Hopefully a glimmer of improvement . . .

One of our Realtors is in the hospital. She suffered all the classic symptoms of a stroke on Sunday. She wasn't up to talking to the Realtor she pals around with the most today, which left another Realtor wondering if she's able to talk - ? Please pray for Nita if you are so inclined. She's probably late-50s, maybe early 60s (and she smokes). We really don't know how she's doing yet, but you can bet we're all pretty concerned.

Barb: Well it's ok. The bottom line is apparently there is a policy that the users (ie me) cannot directly access the main database even if it's read only.

Of course we've been doing this for years and years and no one has said anything and no one in our office apparently was aware of said policy (btw did I mention I work for a govn agency?)

Anyway the bottom line is the best we can do is query a copy of the database. Which we don't have in place. Oh we have a "test" data base but of course that's used for testing and may have messed up data in it. The tool that we have for a snapshot database is out of date. Now if they UPGRADE that tool then - well then we can do reports pretty much like before - just on a "snapshot" of the data instead.

But they may not do that until October. (I think for budgetary reasons) Oh and Salazar wants to merge us with someone else - but we knew that. Just that might through a kink in the whole upgrade process.

So I get to tell systems what queries that I'd like to become canned reports so I can still do my job.

At least the programmers are sympathetic. (for now) But then if they weren't they'd have to do OUR (there are several program analysts) job as well....

Sharon, I wish I had something dramatic to say. First, a little preface. I always suffer some sort of attack before and after Bible Handouts. For a long time, Ron would have horrible blackouts every time, and shout at me all night. That kind of thing. Or, I'd get sick. I'd always get a horrible depression, too.

Valentine's Day, this year. No trouble before the Handout. Had me a little nervous. Did the handout, lost my balance and almost broke my ankle, but didn't, during the handout. A day passes. Day 2, I run into the couch and break my pinkie toe, badly. For weeks, it felt like I had a bunch of razor blades inside my toe every time I tried to stand or walk. It's still a minor, ongoing, problem, but I can work, have fun on the bus, and still get around OK.

Speaking of, while I was laid up at home, the Bus Stop Rapist was making the rounds, in Houston. So, it's a good thing I was laid up.

Sharon, I used to do database reports for a non-profit. We had a horrible system, and I could tell the IT guy was milking them. I kept trying to tell them they could use a better system, but they were very invested in this guy and didn't want to accept he was working them over. He used to make a big deal out of coming out and doing a Scandisk. He got really mad one day when i said, oh, I already did a Scandisk and a Defrag last week. :pound I was supposed to be as ignorant as the rest of them! He did get in trouble, I had bought a screensaver and put it on my computer. He pirated it and put it on all the computers. I told my boss, he had to take them down, he had violated my license agreement and I would get in trouble if they didn't. He didn't even ask permission, he just stole it. I was furious.

Barb, generally a stroke victim will see a lot of improvement in the first 6 months after "injury". In addition to everything else, Ron had a "bleed" stroke after his accident.
