Posted Image Hi, everybody! Jump in, the water's fine . . . What should we call this thread, here at our new digs? I'm not sure the ND (Not Deceived) part carries over well . . . so many folks don't know the story & the guy who said the all of us at the original RR board were deceived hasn't been around in years. Chat Central was all I could think of, besides "Chat Stew" and I'm sure that phrase is copyrighted. :lol But, we can always get a mod to change the title for us, I'll bet! :nod Posted Image |

Been chiming in on fb, but am rarely on the laptop for more than a few mins at a time lately. :heart Spring and summer coming on have kicked my rear. Good news is we do have a new gelding who is a gentleman in every way and Lady loves him. :dance I'm riding again too! We've gotten the multiple gardens up and running, and have a pool to take care of, plus ducks, who are a riot to take care of! I promise I'll get caught back up soon, there is so much going on, I crash as soon as work is done. And now, I'm going to go do just that and sleep. One thing I'll throw out there for prayer, my broken hand is giving me fits. Very painful and stiff. The main broken finger doesn't want to move and I'm makeing an appointment to be seen to figure this all out. Will catch you later, and I love ya'll! |

*Yawn* Hi all.... Sounds like a good weekend for all. Dh and I got dss on the train and then slowed waaaaay down. Naps on both days, hours of curling up on the sofa together reading. He wouldn't let me cook, so we went out both nights to eat. It was marvelous :bounce Time to get back on track. The lady who was interested in our house sold hers last week, so things could start to happen in the next couple of weeks or so. I need to get busy and fix stuff up. More painting, repairs and beautification. First I have to wake up... |

Turned in a contract & wrote another offer this morning, so it's been a good Monday already! :getdown Sounds like you had a "vacation"-type weekend, moo, with lounging around & relaxing and not cooking. :thumb Kind of gloomy & drizzly here today . . . but I'm about to get a cup of coffee & clean off my desk so it feels sunny in my office. :lol (Clutter makes me feel gloomy.) |

Ha! You should have seen the sleazy little establishment we were in. :tsk It's a check cashing biz. It's a franchise; you might recognize it from its catchy jingle. We went there because the local Western Union office is also there. Sweetie had to pick up some wired money from a seller whose house closed today. He's @ the closing co right now. |

Good afternoon ladies and gents. Simon and I took a long walk this afternoon, somewhere in the 4 mile range. We had fun but got awfully hot before we got home! :hot The direction we went had us walking slightly uphill the whole way home and there wasn't much shade left. I should probably plan the walks for earlier in the day when it's cooler. Oh well. We stopped at a tiny little roadside store, Simon loves their cookies. He got two cookies and we brought home some fresh local carrots and tomatoes. The carrots were HUGE. We sliced, salted (kosher salt, yum), and ate them when we got home, yummy! Unless I eat a whole pizza (or something equally extravagant) for dinner, I think I'll have a good calorie defecit going on today. :laugh |

Atta girl, Cathy :thumb I am hoping for the same. I did a body pump class this morning (crazy weight lifting, hitting all major muscle groups) and immediately followed it with Zumba. About 1000 calories burned. I'm pooped! The bills from the accident are starting to come in. Hoo boy, this is gonna be fun. We have health insurance (praise God!) but it isn't the best. It's gonna be a mountain of paperwork from here on out. Oh boy, my favorite. Remember the saga of "Jesse", the guy that dh has been mentoring, helping and who he actually hired at his company? Well, Jesse didn't take care of his old beater car, and it blew up on the freeway a couple weeks ago. Dh came and picked him up, used our AAA membership to tow the vehicle, and picked up and delivered Jesse to work every day since (adding 50 minutes to his daily commute.) Dh knows cars, and was helping Jesse pick out a new one. He also lent Jesse a large sum of money to help him to do so. There was a choice of 2 cars this weekend. Dh strongly urged Jesse to buy the one with 80k less mileage. But, because the owner of that car didn't respond to Jesse right away, Jesse bought the car with well over 200k miles on it on Friday. Jesse lives in a community of believers who help each other out. Last night, they kicked him out. As he left, his brakes went out. Dh is pulling his hair out. He advised Jesse of the folly of buying that car, but Jesse wouldn't listen. He advised Jesse about his responsibilities in the community, but Jesse wouldn't listen. Now Jesse is without a working car, without a home, and has to live in the non-functional car. Dh has bailed him out over and over and over over the last couple years, and after praying intensely over this matter, decided that Jesse just has to live with his choices. No more bailing out. Jesse owes us a lot of money, and is playing the victim in the whole thing. He just doesn't get it. We are heart broken. We really wanted Jesse to start thinking about his choices and taking responsibility. Jesse continues to look to others to rescue him. Jesse is 43, and should know better. Dh went out on a limb by hiring Jesse at his company, and now Jesse can't get there because of stupid choices made emotionally rather than logically. The whole thing is so ridiculously frustrating to everyone involved, especially Jesse and dh. Dh and I have been praying, and we are convinced that we have to let Jesse face his own consequences. We will not rescue him. He may lose his job. We will probably never see the cash we loaned him, but that isn't the important thing. The important thing is that Jesse refuses to be anything but a victim. We are heart broken for him. Please pray for Jesse. Please also pray for my dh. Dh has poured himself into helping this man, and he just refuses to learn. He is stuck in the victim mentality. Dh has told him numerous times a day to take his difficulties to God, but he just won't listen. So very, very, very frustrating. Jesse has always said that he wants to be just like dh. Dh said that his success comes only from God, and Jesse needs to do the same. He won't listen. He wants success on his own terms. *Sigh* People will be people. Thanks for letting me vent :sigh |

That's sad, moo. I've worked with a couple of tenants in the past in similar ways - & they owed me a fair amount of money, and they didn't change. It's as if there's some partition in their brain that will not move. It's beyond them to change, I've about decided that's probably true in most cases. Glad you got your faucet fixed, Sharon! Amazing how much water can simply dribble away. Real estate is driving me nuts this evening - well, one company I work for. They've changed a lot, recently, and they're not much fun to do work for these days. :sigh edited to add: And at this stage of life, I can't see working at something that is not fun! (Need to go to bed & sleep! :faint ) Edited by barb43, June 4, 2012, 10:34 pm.

Moo, I think you're doing the right thing. Ron has helped various people over the years. Some, worked great. Some, didn't. I had a good day until my nap, when I was screaming at a very annoying family member. |

Moo, I'm sorry y'all are going through that with Jesse. I've learned the hard way that some people just can't be helped and it sounds like Jesse is in that category. I'll be praying for him and y'all. Lady Sharon, I'm glad that you got your faucet fixed! Barb, I hope today is going better with the real estate. It's been so hot here lately :hot I'm thinking about starting my yearly hibernation early, usually I manage to wait till July... I saw 2 juvenile Eastern Bluebirds yesterday. They were so cute splashing around in my bird bath, then when mom and dad came they were fluttering their wings and opening their mouths begging for food :love |

Sigh, hibernation sounds awfully appealing! I'm struggling a bit and covet your prayers. My main worry is posted in the prayer section, it's about losing my job and being denied unemployment benefits (I will file an appeal tomorrow). I'm trying to stay in prayer and stay positive, but my fears are large. In response, I've been having trouble eating. Well, not exactly having trouble eating, more like not eating. It's only been a couple of days so I'm not in any trouble yet, but I don't want to get into a bad place. I want to be healthy, not neurotic. Besides, I should probably eat while we can still afford to buy food. :laugh Sunday I had two chicken snack wraps from McDonalds. I also had a handful of ritz minicrackers with cheese. Yesterday, (I think I mentioned it already in this thread) I had one tomato and a half of a large carrot. That was it, all day. I haven't eaten yet today. It's only 2:30 so I still have time to shovel in some fuel, just can't seem to do it. I HAVE been exercising though. Yeah, I know... I think it's a "control" thing. I'm so fearful about the future and having so little control over what will happen, so I try to control my body. :sigh Anyway, prayers are coveted, thanks. :): |

Moo sorry it isn't going so well with Jesse. (((HUGS))) Praying he will become more responsible for his decisions. Cathy that sounds like such fun just walking and enjoying the day. Rainbo hope you are able to get out and enjoy the weather more before the real summer heat comes. Barb I bet you have dealt with all sorts of people and situations in real estate. Sharon glad the faucet is fixed. Had a busy day at the hospital. One PT I work with has upper back pain, another nearly passed out at work when her BP went crazy and our PT Aide is having kidney stone issues and that leaves me being the only one healthy right now and that is not saying much. :lol |

Praying for your every need, Cathy! :hug Wish you were here! - we have a brand new, big dental office being built just down at the next corner from our office. Not sure who's going in there - may be a franchise, which is unusual for here, but heh, could be. We also have plenty of dentists, a couple of oral surgeons, and some orthodontists. There aren't a lot of employment opportunities here, but people do move every few years (lots of military spouses). Yes, Stacy - real estate was some better today! I turned in the contract on that stripped out house that was priced at $5,000 (sold for $1200 more :lol ) - will be so happy when the deal closes in a couple of weeks! And . . . I'm planning to work at home tomorrow, on my projects. :nod Have an r.e. class on Thursday, a free one - 2 hrs. of continuing ed. That's a good deal! I have to pick up 12 hours before the end of Sept. so I can renew my license. (Even tho' I have plans for other things next year, I don't want to let my license lapse. That'd be a re-ally bad move. :heh ) Hi, Carmen! :wave We were posting over top of each other. :lol Yes, you meet all kinds in real estate. Some turn into really good friends, some I've been really happy to see leave. Heh, why do you say that's not saying much, that you're the healthiest one in your work group?
