New App Locks Teens’ Phones Until They Reply To Parents’ Texts

Here’s how it works: When you send a message to someone using ReplyASAP, it sounds an alarm on their phone even if the phone is on silent. The message appears over whatever else they’re doing on the phone, and the alarm continues until the message is acknowledged. This allows parents to confirm that their child has seen the message, and prompts teens to reply to stop the noise and get back to whatever else they wanted to do on their phone.

:umno I do not like this idea. We treated our teen with far more respect, even when he was unresponsive, irresponsible, and/or doing things we didn't like or that scared us.

This app does not demand kids learn to be responsible. Instead it further convinced young adults to be dependent or totally rebel.

:teehee can you tell I feel really strongly about this?!?

Besides, one major thing this will do is get your kid put in detention, if not suspended when some parent, for whatever reason, texts their teen during school & this alarm goes off. :eyeroll

I also though of the potential problems it could cause for teens at school or at work, but my biggest concern with this is the potential to startle/distract them while driving or performing other activities that require concentration for safety reasons.
