That it is. :lol I'm sure that these mass produced medals are made very cheaply, but I would still love to know how many of these medals and other promotional "gifts" they send out and how much they spend on them per year relative to the number of donations that they actually get in return. To be fair, these people (Catholic Relief Services) do appear to be a legitimate charity that does a lot of good work among the poor in third world countries; but even if I had the money to support another ministry beyond the couple that I already give to, I would not be likely to give to a Catholic group that also spreads the RCC version of the Gospel among those that they are helping. |

That's the way I feel about this subject these days. I still believe I have some Catholic medals at my house, but they haven't turned up. They'd been wrapped in a cloth that I was planning to attach them to - was going to make some sort of a "my favorite saints" display once upon a time. :greeneyeroll I'm really hoping they'll turn up sometime this year . . . (y'know, things like this bug me :lol ) We've had some great training today on new loan products. :thumb I love stuff like this because it assists buyers, but we don't appear to be going back to the old 'stated income-stated assets' way of doing business that wrecked the mortgage and homebuying businesses 10 years ago. :B: Sweetie just headed home to wait on the guy who's coming to repair our DSL service. The guy is supposed to come sometime between noon & 8 p.m. (sunset is 8:03 tonight, which is my guess on how that time was picked). |

Mel love your photo. :lol Heck of a thing to still be getting the evil white stuff. At least it is not a blizzard and it will not stay long. It made it into the upper 60's today, so very nice and sunny out. Went for a long walk this afternoon. Barb hope your DSL got all fixed. :ranger Our neighbor just retired about 2 months ago and is just totally enjoying herself too much. She always has something to say "going to work??" in a sweet I don't have to voice. :rollpin :grouphug |

I understand completely. :nod Sometimes, if I can't find something that I know should be here somewhere, it drives me crazy until it turns up. One of the Catholic groups that is always asking for donations around here has recently started offering a "Rosary of the month club". For your monthly donation of $30 or more, you get a new set of rosary beads in the mail each month. As a Protestant I obviously have no interest in ever praying the rosary, but even if I did believe in that, how many different sets of beads would I really need? I have to admit though that I do sometimes enjoy looking at the different styles of Catholic prayer beads, religious medals, statues, paintings etc from an artistic point of view. Recently I've also developed an interest in the Eastern Orthodox style of religious icon paintings. My current favorite Orthodox icon is the one known as "Christ the Light Giver". I had the day off from work, so I had lunch with my parents and helped them with a few things around their house. After that I spent the rest of the afternoon going to the bank, the grocery store, and running various other errands. I'm back home now having a rare lazy evening with May. :May Edit to add: I picked up a pack of the new espresso M&Ms at the grocery store today. I don't really care for them. Edited by M. That is a nice icon, "Christ the Light Giver." Don't know if we have DSL back up & running at home or not ... I'm about to head to Wal-Mart to pick up a few items & then go home. I watched a cousin perform ~live~ with a female flute ensemble at WVa University on facebook messenger this evening. That was so neat! They were very good, it was a delightful performance - sounded like spring. My cousin & I chatted for awhile after it was over. See y'all later! |

Nice Icon Mel. The espresso M&M's do not even sound good, the coffee flavored ones were nasty. Nothing beats the regular peanut and plain M&M's. Heard on the radio today the oldest man is 112. When asked what has kept him so healthy and with a longer life. He said cake and :sumo Sumo wrestling. :lol Suppose to get some bad storms today, but it sounds like it is not going to happen. That is okay with me. Have a good Friday. :grouphug |

Hope you're all having a great Friday, the 13th. It's hot & windy today. There are terrible fires in the northwest part of the state. State Forestry Service put out an announcement for residents of 3 towns to evacuate, & gave directions for how yo move away from the fires. The governor declared a state of emergency in 52 counties because of wildfires. :sigh |
