Gloria Copeland said that flu shots were unnecessary because Jesus provides total protection in a recent Facebook video. The video, "Gloria Copeland Talks About the Flu," was posted last week to the Kenneth Copeland Ministries page.

"We've got a duck season, a deer season, but we don't have a flu season," Copeland said. "And don't receive it when someone threatens you with, 'Everybody's getting the flu.' We've already had our shot. He bore our sicknesses and carried our diseases. That's what we stand on. And by his stripes, we were healed."

Copeland then proceeded to pray for viewers who might have the flu anyway, rebuking the "curse of flu."

And by his stripes, we were healed.

That verse in Isaiah isn't about physical healing. Sorry, that's just not the context.

There's another verse. "Do not put the Lord your God to the test." God, in His grace, has allowed mankind to develop means of protection from certain diseases. That is a gift from God that previous generations longed for but never saw. If we fail to utilize those means and demand that He do it some other way then that is exactly what we are doing, putting God to the test. Foolishly, I might add.

Yes, pray for healing. Yes, pray for protection. But if you refuse to use the gift that God has given us don't be surprised if you get the flu.

The Copeland lady is nuts telling people not to get the flu shot. Having the flu shot seems to be what saves people, ones that die have not gotten the flu shot.

I agree with you Scott. :nod

The Copland backpedaling begins following the widespread negative backlash that the original message received:

Quote:

Gloria and Kenneth Copeland Ministries value medicine and doctors and would never counsel someone not to seek medical care.

It's easy to see how some people would misunderstand Gloria's statement about there being "no flu season" because she was speaking the language of faith.
