I would be surprised if this was true.

That would be neat, if true. Does it really matter, though? Believers don't need artifacts to prove what we already know. Unbelievers won't accept artifacts as proof no matter how many there are.

It would be cool, but I very much doubt that the Ark still exists.

Given that Noah and his family were faced with starting over in a world that had been completely devastated by the flood, it seems to me that Noah and/or the first few generations of his descendants would have almost certainly disassembled the ark as the most convenient source of wood for building shelters, firewood, etc.

But even if the Ark (or some significant portion of it) was left intact for some reason, what are the chances that it would still be around and in a recognizable state after roughly 5000 years of exposure to the elements?

You're absolutely right. This sums it up well.

I was wondering if the Ark might be petrified ... tho' I've not looked up the process by which that happens. But I think you're probably right, Mel - why wouldn't the descendants have used up that wood? They probably did.

Wonder how they handled all of the animal wastes? and even their own?

Good question. If I had to guess, I think it likely that the Ark would have had to have some sort of hatches or chutes to let the waste be dumped overboard into the ocean like most ships did until very recent times.
