Big balls or stupid, you decide!
The two are not always mutually exclusive.

I can't get over the fact that the schools stayed open here today given how quickly they seem to close for much milder weather conditions.

:pound That's true!

They made it. I discovered that you can follow flights in real time on the web. They flew straight across the country until they got about 60 miles from Boston. Then they looped north nearly as far as Maine to go around some really heavy weather. What they did fly through, near the city, was still pretty bad. I'm glad that I wasn't on that plane!

:clap Glad your niece arrived safely! :thumb . . . Hope all is well at your house this evening, Mel.

I have a friend who lives in Northern VA, not far from the DC area. She said they had near-hurricane force winds all day. The power went off at 6 a.m. Back on about noon; back off about 3:30 p.m. Back on about mid-evening. Meanwhile, schools in 10 counties around were shut down today, and most government offices too. They had several trees fall in her area; they lost 3 on their property - one across their long driveway. Last I heard from her this evening, she was a nervous wreck from the non-stop wind, and worrying about more power outtages and trees falling on their property. I'm praying they are all okay overnight and this moves on tomorrow. :ohno

Cousins & friends in WVa reported 50-60 mph winds today too ... they don't get that kind of wind, hardly ever, so it was shaking them up.

But here in SW Oklahoma - beautiful sunny day in the upper 60s, maybe even some low 70s. We really enjoyed it. We each had a sale close today, and that was a good thing for both of us.

Local area Homebuilders Association is having a Parade of Homes this weekend - I think there are 15 or 16 homes involved. Sweetie & I are each holding one open. The nice thing is, ours are right next door to each other, so if either of us wants a break, the other can watch both houses. :wink The houses are open 5 hours tomorrow and 3 hours on Sunday.

Well . . . I visited my mother right after I left the office and then headed to the grocery store. Didn't get home till about 8. I am tired! Think I'll go to bed in the next few minutes.

Hope y'all get a good night's sleep, and that we do too! :D: . . . :grouphug . . . :bed

Good morning! :wave

Cold and windy here again today, but not nearly as bad as yesterday, though the forecast still calls for occasional wind gusts up to 40 mph this afternoon.

We never lost power here, but the local newspaper is reporting that about 90% of local homes were without power yesterday afternoon, but most have been restored now with all expected to be restored by noon today.

No power or heat for the past 24 hours. Trees down all over town. There is more damage than some hurricanes I've been through. Everything is OK now.

Wow some really rough weather out east. Glad your niece made it safe and sound Scott. When do they fly out to Israel??

We had a fairly nice day today with temps in 50's and will be warmer tomorrow then have chance for some snow on Monday.

I had a bad headache this morning and was out running errands. We got stopped at a light and the power plant was at that corner and blew a whistle at 1 and boy that did not feel good on the headache.

Watching the How to Train Your Dragon cartoon movies. They are so funny and cute.

Have a good weekend.

Glad you're doing okay, Mel. :thumb Hope you get heat & lights soon, Scott. :sad Yes, when are Maria and your niece heading to Israel? Hope they have a terrific trip!

Hi, Jeanette! Hi, Carmen! Was that headache due to sinus pressure? Sweetie's been having a lot of sinus headaches the past week or so. For a man who never has headaches, that's been pretty disconcerting. :ohno

We worked the Tour of Homes in our area today. Sweetie held one house open and I held open the house next door. I'm sure we had more than 70 people/groups of people come through, may have been pretty close to 80. I had a ball - was on my feet the whole time, wandering around the house with potential buyers and other assorted looky-loos. They asked lots of questions and I knew most of the answers. We opened the houses at 11 and closed them up between 4 & 4:30. Mm, boy, were we tired! At least we had beautiful weather, but pretty windy by 1 p.m.

I don't want to go to bed before 9, but it's hard to stay awake, I'm so tired. :giggle

We'll be back over at the houses from 1-4 tomorrow afternoon. I hope we have nice weather - there's rain in the forecast for some part of the day.

Their flight leaves 9:00 PM Sunday. I didn't know that El-Al provides their own security at Boston, not TSA. Evidently, it is a very rigorous inspection. No wonder why they want the passengers there so early and no wonder why El-Al flights never have problems.

Hi, all!

Did Maria and your niece get off to Israel? How's the weather, Scott?

The 2nd day of the Tour of Homes was fun. Lots of people today too.

There was a guy who dumped a really pretty, healthy-looking gray tabby cat across a private drive about 25 yards from the back of the house I was holding open. I ran out into the backyard and hollered, "HEH! YOU'RE NOT DUMPING THAT CAT, ARE YOU?!?" but he couldn't hear me for the wind. He drove away, slowly, looking around like he was nervous. I couldn't get out the back of the property because of the fencing used in this subdivision. I was so upset! I'd bet you that was a housecat - it stood on the edge of that gravel drive, looking around like it didn't know what to do. I called, "Here, kitty, kitty, kitty ... " but it ran on into the tall johnson grass. That was so frustrating, to not be able to rescue that cat! :sob I thought I saw the pickup truck the guy was driving parked on the edge of the subdivision so we drove up to it and I hollered at the guy. He insisted he was not the one I was looking for. He turned out to be a builder I didn't know and we ended up introducing ourselves and having a good laugh over it. I told him, the subdivision developer had told me, "Go get 'im, Barb!" as I was hurrying to lock up the house I'd been at. :rollpin That was awful, I couldn't catch up to the right guy and I couldn't rescue the cat. Yeh, I felt like throwing up. People who dump animals are evil, period.

Well, I hope you all are doing well! I must go to bed ... I'm cold, and I have to be at the office early in the morning. Darn oscar awards are still on - I was hoping to see the local news before going to bed, but that stuff is on. :popcorn

See y'all tomorrow!

Hi, all!

Did Maria and your niece get off to Israel? How's the weather, Scott?

The 2nd day of the Tour of Homes was fun. Lots of people today too.

Yes, they arrived in Tel Aviv about an hour ago. Maria called me just before boarding telling about the security checks. This was El Al security people not TSA. Everybody was interviewed face to face. My niece was selected for special interrogation because they found it suspicious that she had flown in from California to take that flight. Ultimately there was no problem once they verified that she was flying with relatives on an organized tour. Those guys don't fool around. It took over two hours to check out everybody before boarding that one flight.

The weather? We got about an inch and a half of snow last night. Today is cloud but warm so all of that will be gone before the bigger snow storm expected Wednesday.

Those are some nice houses you list on facebook. I looked into it briefly and don't think I could move to Oklahoma. We would get croaked on taxes. My pension is free of state and local taxes. Very comfortable here but considerably less so in OK.
