It is raining hard this evening. Tomorrow is supposed to get really cold again with snow showers likely and wind gusts up to 50 mph.

Good morning! :wave

It is 38 degrees here this morning with a wind chill of 16. It is snowing a little, but no accumulation so far. It is supposed to change over to rain later this morning.

Nearby areas are reporting power outages due to the high winds, but so far we are OK here. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are predicted for this afternoon.

My niece is flying in today from California. She is going with Maria to Israel. That's going to be a pretty good trick. Her arrival time is the same as the predicted height of the nor'easter we're having today. 60 MPH wind gusts! Past practice being an indicator of future performance, I told Maria not to be surprised if her flight is rerouted to NYC due to conditions in Boston. We shall see.
Fortunately we, on the coast, are supposed to get only rain today. Yeah, about that...We shall see here too!

Local news photo taken just up the street from my sister-in-law's house:

Edit to add: One of our local schools had some large trees in their playground uprooted by the wind this morning:

It seems that all of the rain we have had these last two weeks has left the ground extremely soft so that tree roots, power poles, etc pull out of the ground very easily. So far my immediate neighborhood has power, but there are reports of outages affecting parts of nearly every other local community.

Local news is reporting a school bus overturned by the wind. Thankfully, there were no kids onboard at the time, but the driver's condition is not currently known.

All of that is what we expect later today.

Yikes! All airlines except the one my niece is on have cancelled all flights to Boston. Still listed as on time. Big balls or stupid, you decide!

Soggy ground from the past two days of rain here, and
Windy conditions,
There r two cedar trees on neighbors property that borders ours, they’ve been leaning for long time.
Looks like they could come down every time, they haven’t to date.
Ones roots r pulling up and it is leaning on the other.

Praying when they go they go on ground & not on our house or the neighbors.

In NC whoever’s property a tree falls on it is their responsibility to clean it up, not the person whose property the tree is growing on.
