Good evening!
:wave We have about 2 inches of snow here and it is still coming down. Then all next week after tomorrow is supposed to be back up in the 60's and 70's. My niece who is pregnant is at the hospital in labor since about 10 this morning (it is 6 PM here now). |

Yeah, this latest school shooting has really brought out the craziness. All these kids just looking for attention and not considering the trouble that they are bringing on themselves. Not to mention the potential for tragic events such as getting themselves or someone else shot by some armed citizen who takes them for a real school shooting threat and opens fire. I was talking with one of my old school chums a while back about how things have changed. One thing that we discussed was how with this being a mostly rural community back then it was not at all unusual for one of our classmates to bring a rifle or other firearm to school for "show & tell" day. And in hunting season, there would sometimes be a whole line of guns propped against the wall in the coat room. And that was OK because none of us would have even thought about using those weapons for anything other than their intended purpose. Of course, back then there was no issue about us having water pistols, cap guns, and other toy weapons at recess time either. :lol Edited by M. Hawbaker, February 17, 2018, 5:09 pm.

:heh We didn't play with toy guns at recess, but we ran all over the neighborhood with them when the weather was good. My silver cap guns were my favorite toys! Made a pot of chili for dinner this evening. It was tasty. :thumb Edward found this online somewhere. He posted it on my timeline & asked if I thought this would help us pick some place to eat? :hysterical Posted Image |

Whoops! Seven inches of snow last night coming after previous forecasts of above seasonal temperatures for the rest of the month. Oh well, they say it should all be gone by Monday afternoon. My observation on all of the school shootings. I'm old enough to remember when ANYBODY could buy guns by mail order. Really! Send your check or money order and USPS delivered it right to your door. No questions asked. Mass shootings, as a rule, didn't happen in those days. There were rare exceptions, Charles Whitman in Texas comes to mind. Why is that? Guns are guns. They don't change. People have changed. |

Good morning, Mel, Scott, Jeanette, Carmen, and Cathy! Congratulations on that new baby in your family, Mel! She will be a long, tall drink of water if she maintains the height:weight ratio as she grows up. :D: 7" of snow, eh, Scott? :freaked Glad it isn't going to last. It's dreary and damp here, but supposed to get all the way up to about 66 today. May have some showers. We had a "too-close-for-comfort" call with 4 young coyotes about 4 a.m. this morning. FaithyJ had to go potty, so I walked out back with the hounds. Fran did her business & came right back inside. The others wandered around the backyard enjoying the mild weather. It was really pleasant out there. When they finally made their way to the far NE side of the yard, 4 young coyotes began to yip and snarl very close by. They sounded close enough to be standing on the ball field across the street. That scared Leela and even Ge'dogg. I didn't feel too comfortable with them that close to all of us either! FaithyJ and Houston, on the other hand, charged to the fence and just barked and carried on like they wanted to get out there and fight those critters. I stepped back inside and flipped on the patio light, and seriously yelled for the dogs to "Come!" There was instant silence. I don't know if the coyotes ran or just shut up. Faithy and Houston whirled around and came running. I locked up the house & we all went back to bed, but I couldn't go back to sleep for awhile. |

Congrats Mel!!! So what is the little one's name?? Wow Barb that is too close for comfort for those coyotes. :fear Glad all the doggies are all safe and well. Scott you are so right about it being people who have changed. :sad Last night I made pancakes for the first time and they turned out so perfect, light and fluffy and yummy. Sister asked for seconds and that in itself is amazing as she normally does not do seconds. She bragged on them to our brother this afternoon on the phone. :lol He had no come back. We have been watching all the Tinkerbell movies this weekend. They are fun to watch again. :grouphug |

Hello . . . I've run out of steam for this day, I think. We had a good time this afternoon. Headed to the next county south, found & photographed a house that I've been hired to provide info on. It's about to be re-possessed. Hopefully I will be listing it soon. :thumb Someone is living in the house - they have a pretty nice looking SUV. The roof on the house is gone - big charcoal-colored tarp covers most of the roof, front & back. The carport on the back of the house is gone; and the wood privacy fence is pretty torn up across the front of the property. I have to see if I can find the square footage of the house tomorrow. We had some light showers earlier this evening. Not enough to amount to drought relief tho'. We need an 1/2" here and there over the next several weeks - not enough to flood us, but enough to get down into the soil. Think I'm going to bed early. :bed |
