:heh Your brother reminds me of a number of guys I've known over the years, Carmen. Sweetie used to wait till Christmas Eve. Even after we got together and he stopped that, he'd still take the boys & go out on Christmas Eve - he made it a tradition! :pound It's cold here, wet & a little icy. :B: It's sleeting right now, but not too heavily. Might get a little snow tonight. Later: Okay, I tried to watch The Minions, and I just can't get into it. :shrug ... :lol Think I'll turn some music back on. :winky Edited by barb43, December 22, 2017, 8:00 pm.

Barb I can remember going shopping Christmas Eve with my Dad for years, it was kind of a tradition as well. I miss those days. We got past the Christmas shopping okay. He brought us supper at our favorite Mexican place. There was this gorgeous necklace at KMart for $38.00. Was laying down hints for Christmas/Birthday gift......... :frusty I should have just banged my head on a wall for all it was worth. :lol :grouphug Edited by cricket55, December 22, 2017, 8:32 pm.

I really don't get the whole minions thing. At my old job, there were a couple of ladies who were absolutely obsessed with those strange yellow creatures. I just don't care for them even though the lead minions name is Mel. :shrug |

Couldn't sleep last night, so I got up and made a batch of microwave fudge. 1 12 oz bag of semi sweet chocolate chips 1 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk 1/2 stick butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon salt Combine first three ingredients ingredients in microwave safe bowl and heat on high for one minute. Stir and continue heating for 30 seconds at a time and stirring until all ingredients are melted. Add vanilla and salt and stir until smooth then pour into a 8x8 baking pan lined with aluminum foil that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Refrigerate until solid and cut into bite size pieces. Edited by M. Hawbaker, December 23, 2017, 7:25 am.

:wave Good Saturday morning! We have a light layer of wet snow on the grass and windshields this morning. It's not real cold tho', if you don't stay outside too long. I walked outside about 7 a.m. and waited on the dogs. Stayed up - I was wide awake, even tho' it's a Saturday. I'm not sure, but I may turn into a morning person again. Was one when I was in the military & working defense contracting. Your fudge sounds yummy, Mel! If you get sleepy this afternoon, I hope you have time to take a nap. I'm reading the book my Broker gave me for Christmas - Hal Elrod's The Miracle Morning. Boy, is it good! I stayed up till 2 a.m. reading, so was kind of surprised to be wide awake at 7. But heh, I put away a load of clean laundry and a load of clean dishes; spent time in Bible study and prayer ... I figure that was worth getting up for. :D: The coffee pot was on for 10 or 12 hours yesterday, and it's not a heavy duty pot. It's probably about the bottom of the line, as coffee makers go, and probably 10 or 12 years old. :eyeroll It doesn't get the coffee as hot as we like it, as it brews, and it certainly doesn't keep it very hot after it's finished brewing. I was talking to it yesterday about that, as I stuck a cup of freshly poured coffee into the microwave to warm it up a few degrees. Don't know if I hurt its feelings or jinxed it, but it wouldn't turn on for me this morning. When Sweeetie got up, I told him. He laughed - walked right into the kitchen, flipped the switch, and the coffee began to brew. Good! I still think we'll probably buy another pot this week. :lol Y'all have a great day! |

Did you have a good lunch with your friend, Carmen? I had to chuckle again when you said your brother just didn't get a clue when you were dropping hints about the necklace. It's really chilly tonight and probably will stay that way for a few days. Originally, it was supposed to be near 60 today and tomorrow - don't know what happened to that weather! Well . . . one more cup of coffee along with a good book for an hour and then I'm going to bed. See y'all tomorrow! . . . it will be Christmas Eve, how about that?!? (Wishing I had a reason to go to Atlanta so I could drive on down and visit a friend who lives south of there. :sigh I told her if I can find a reason to go to Atlanta in 2018, I'll definitely pay her a visit!) |

:lol Certainly looks as if she's considering it! Do you let her have a little bit of bacon? I brought 4 strips of bacon (not very big ones) home to the dogs this evening - my burger had bacon on it. I cut the strips up so each do had 3 small pieces. They thought that was fantastic. They'd really be in Edited by barb43, December 23, 2017, 9:25 pm.

Yeah, I let her have a strip. She just loves bacon but doesn't get it very often, because for the last few years I have been really trying to eat healthy. So bacon (as well as other processed meats) just isn't on the menu any more except for rare special occasions; but i decided to make an exception tonight since it is Christmas weekend and I was feeling the need for comfort food as I am really feeling the holiday blues the last few days. |

Howdy! We made it to Yakima around 18 hours later than planned. It snowed yesterday and the roads got really slick after dark. So we decided to wait for daylight. Had a fun day with Mark's folks, grocery shopping and helping out in the kitchen. Will be here till the first. Excited to get to show off my engagement ring at church tomorrow. Super cold, might drop down into the teens overnight, brrrrr! |
