What got me thinking about the tide pods was a comment that was made at the wedding reception yesterday. One of Sharon's cousins jokingly (at least I hope he was joking) asked why there wasn't a bowl of Tide pods on the appetizer table.

Wondered how accurate those DNA test were and now we know.......not at all accurate.

Barb are you watching the FB playoffs?? We have watched it a bit. Would like to see Minnesota go all the way.

Your niece's wedding looks and sounds beautiful, Mel, with a lot of symbolic meaning. Very pretty church too, inside & out.

It was a beautiful wedding, and I found the whole elaborate Orthodox ceremony fascinating.

Sharon and I had a traditional Roman Catholic wedding ceremony. Both the similarities and the differences between the Catholic and Orthodox versions of the wedding liturgy are very interesting to me. I knew that they would be different, but I did not realize how different they would be.

As for the church itself, I just wish that I had remembered to get a picture of the beautiful artwork that covers most of the ceiling in the sanctuary. It is an amazing Icon style portrait of Mary holding the baby Jesus.

Before you explained the ceremony, I wondered if it would be similar to a Catholic wedding. My late-dh and I had a Catholic wedding.

I'll bet that is a beautiful ceiling! :thumb

Nah, Carmen, I'm not big on pro-football; I've enjoyed college ball so much more. Since the whole 'take a knee' thing during the National Anthem, I've turned into an anti-NFL person. We haven't had a single game on this season; aren't watching the Super Bowl either. (And I'll stop there. :heh )

I don't know where the weekend went, between real estate work and maintenance on the rentals. I'm doing paperwork this evening. I have a pan of sweet potatoes, apples, onions, and turkey cutlets - all spiced up - roasting in the oven for a late dinner. Just before all the veggies & cutlet are finished, I'm to mix up some applebutter & worcestershire sauce & top the cutlets with that; stick it all back in the oven and roast about 10 more minutes. I haven't made this recipe before, but it sure sounds good.

As beautiful as both the Catholic and Orthodox wedding liturgies are, I think that in the very unlikely event that I were ever to remarry, I would prefer to skip the elaborate ceremonies and keep it simple. I would however still want the wedding to be performed by a Christian minister rather than a civil ceremony.

The Eagles are going to the Super Bowl!
6:10 in the 4th quarter Maria says, "I'm hungry, when is halftime?"
Me, "25 minutes ago." :pound

What makes that doubly funny is that she is the reason why I take interest in football in the first place. I absolutely loathed football (It's a long story.) Starting in 2001, as it turned out the perfect time to become a Patriots fan, she never missed a game on TV and I am peppered with questions as to what's going on. See, she had just started a job at some paper company that was somehow affiliated with the team. "Somehow affiliated?" Turns out it was owned by the same guy who owned the Patriots. They used to hob nob in the elevator and occasionally during working hours. Proof? She got to do this (Feb. 2002)...Posted Image

Wow! Scott! Maria is a beautiful lady, and what a neat experience! Hob nobbing with the Pats owner. :thumb

Very windy day here - I'm pretty windblown from being outside all afternoon, and I could use a nap, tho' probably won't take one. :shrug It's reached the mid 50s, but surely doesn't feel like it, with that wind.

I understand what you're saying, Mel. Some of the courthouse judges who do weddings in Oklahoma and Texas are actually ordained ministers. Edward's #2 son and his wife were married in Wichita Falls by a judge who was a minister. He had a large courtroom and one big corner that was decorated as a chapel - very pretty; included a Bible, and a cross. There were a couple of framed pictures on the walls but I can't recall what was in either picture. I felt much better about the kids getting married there than simply standing up in front of a typical judge and taking their vows.

About to head home & put away groceries ... don't have much that might thaw out, and it's not too warm out anyway. But, I came from the commissary almost 3 hours ago, so I need to take care of this stuff. :B:

Scott nice pic of Maria. Is she still a Patriots fan???

Not a diehard fan. Example, during the Superbowl game against the Seahawks she was jabbing DS and I with, "Ha ha! Patriots are losing. I'm going to bed." She missed the turn around and the last second interception that sealed the win for the Pats. When DS and I were in hysterics yelling she emerged, "What happened?" DS said, "It ain't over til it's over. That's why you stay until the end."

In both Patriots Superbowl losses to the NY Giants she was rooting for the Giants because Eli Manning is cute. Aurgh!

She has changed just a little bit since that picture was taken. She now has a magnificent head of silver hair. Still a babe!

I did see this today, on a thread that was making fun of the whole Tide pods situation. The poster was asking if anyone had tried the latest yet?

edited to add: We have a distant family member who's passing away tonight or tomorrow in NE Ohio. He's been on oxygen for 3 or 4 years, wasn't feeling well so his wife was helping him get ready to go to the doctor. He collapsed and was unconscious. It turns out, he had the flu, developed pneumonia, and they suspect sepsis set in. He's not regained consciousness and the decision has been made to take him off life support. Pretty sad. I haven't seen the man, or his wife, in over 40 years, but I've sort of kept up with them through relatives.

Anyway, good talk with my cousin, but hated to hear about the man who's passing soon, if he hasn't already.
