Mark Gastineau and Brigitte Nielsen. You're right, they were hot stuff back in the day.

Yep! They are the epitome of the mid-to-late 80s sports-celebrity mix, imo, and whatever went with that.

I've never seen Chariots of Fire, but this man was not too difficult to find, googling your clue. This is Eric Henry Liddell.

This next lady sparked the start of a religious movement early in the 20th century through her unusual experiences in speech, but was she really only speaking Chinese?

She was attending a Bible college, where she and several other students along with their professor, prayed for the gift of the Holy Spirit on New Year's Day in 1901. She reportedly had a halo appear around her face, and she couldn't speak normal English for 3 days afterwards.

Chicago's 1st serial killer - this must be H.H. Holmes, who ran The "House of Horrors" Hotel. Right?

That's him. House of horrors is right. The story reads like a Stephen King novel but this really happened.

People like this guy ^^^ really drive home the cold, hard truth that evil is real and walks among us. Those who make light of that idea are deluded by evil, and foolish. (just my hardcore opinion. :heh )

This man was a power player in his position, in spite of his small stature.

He set soooo many records, was a fan favorite, won awards of high regard . . . and on and on and on.

:lol Well, I thought you might not know all the Red Sox players who've ever played & done well.

Yes, this is Pedro Martinez - such an impressive career!

I came across his name when I was reading about sabermetrics and clicked on the acronym WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched). Whoo, boy - Pedro Martinez, while pitching for the Red Sox, had the lowest single-season WHIP in MLB history at 0.7373.

From that, of course, I clicked on Pedro Martinez and read all about his career.

:D:

On the left, the real athlete. On the right the guy who played him in the movies.
