Hudson Taylor?

Yes, Hudson Taylor. When I was in the "Local Church" semi-cult we learned all about Hudson Taylor and the missionaries to China along with Nelson Darby and the Plymouth Brethren. We were also force fed every crackpot doctrine that was popular at the turn of the 20th century. Stuff that has long since been discarded by real scholars. G. H. Pember comes to mind.

He's a former American football player who was born in Okla (that may give it away, if his famous face doesn't :lol ). He was known as a powerhouse in his position.

He got into a very public romance with the gal on his arm here who is a model, actress, & singer. At 6'1", she picked up a nickname typically applied to a mythological tribe of women.

If you followed football and/or watched movies & tv in the 80s, you'll probably recognize them both immediately. Name either or both.
