Sky King ran through the 50s & into the early 60s. I came along in the late 50s & we rarely had TV before the mid-60s so what I've seen of Sky King was in Saturday reruns. :pound I just read that there was a white German shepherd in the show, White Shadow, but it belonged to the female character & did not fly around with the main star.

Thanks for giving a time reference. I'll keep looking.

Btw, I found Greed on Youtube. I can watch it for a mere $2.99, but it's 4 hours long. Wow! And, the description said it was originally 8 hours long, back in the day, but was cut down.

Barb, The uncut "Greed" was shown only once. After that the studio cut it down to less than 4 hours. Worse, they destroyed the removed footage and the negative to recover the silver. von Stroheim never got over it.

Mel, Is this Jean, aka, the Vitagraph dog?

Local Boston TV personality. I dare say that nobody in New England over the age of 30 doesn't know who he was. When his television days were over he taught on-air performance at Emerson College in Boston. He also had a small part in the film Mermaids with Cher and Winona Ryder which was, IMHO, a riot.

The clip from Mermaids.

Rex Trailer. Host of of the children's show, "Boomtown." There's a great picture of him on a horse, on the Wikipedia page, and it's printed at the bottom of the photo: Souvenir of Boulevard Shopping Center! <-- that's pretty neat. Reminds me of afterschool TV of my childhood.

Your clue took me right to him, Scott. :winky

edited to add: Photobucket isn't working worth a hoot this morning, so I'm having a tough time copying a picture of my guy to post. :ohno Maybe later today . . .

Meanwhile, I found some pinterest boards full of Cleveland TV history, and logos of businesses in NE Ohio. It was like I was right back there in the midst of my childhood! Got sucked down that rabbit hole for probably at least a couple hours! :freaked I've got to get off the internet and get to work around the house! :pound

I figured since Rex Trailer was a local personality I needed to give more clues than usual. Too many, eh? There are a few youtubes about him that give you some idea of how popular and well respected he was.

This man was to NE Ohio what Rex Trailer was to Boston. He hosted an afternoon children's show that featured The Little Rascals episodes, Three Stooges shorts, and cartoons such as Rocky & Bullwinkle, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, and occasional live guests that included pets or holiday themes. ... and it that's all not too much already, lol, he did appear on an episode of The Rifleman after Chuck Conners had appeared on his show.

Ron Penfound also known as Captain Penny. Yeah, I can see how he compares favorably to Rex Trailer. I loved in his wikipedia page where he pushed Bosco. That stuff was touted on all of the kid's shows here too. I loved it! It used to be enormously popular but has since fallen out of favor. We can still get it though. If I remember I'm going to get some next time we go shopping. :lol

Yep, that's him. We loved Bosco, as kids. I got it once when the boys were pre-teens and their opinion was to :shrug ... like, okay, what's the big deal? I was kind of disappointed that they didn't think it was the greatest thing since hot, homemade cocoa, but they didn't. Too many things on the market these days, I suppose. :lol

Character actor, probably best known at the deadpan majordomo in one of the funniest movies of the 1980s.

This is too easy! LOL One of my favorite movies - this is Paul Bates from Coming to America.

That's him. I love that movie. My favorite bit is when the king shows up in New York. All of the servants get out of the cars with looks of absolute horror at their surroundings.

I love so many parts of Coming to America, but one of my favorite gag laughs is early on, when Eddie Murphy tells his intended bride to hop on one foot and bark like a dog, and then he sends her away while she's still hopping and woofing. :lol

Our latest man started working in meteorology in 1949. His career as a weatherman took off once he'd finally finished classes in 1960. In the early 70s, he began what became an annual tradition, setting up a daylong family festival that included teaching about weather events
and included caterpillar races.

He is still actively involved in broadcasting, but not necessarily weather forecasting.

Caterpillar is known as the Woolly Bear . . . who'd a thought someone (our mystery man) would start a festival for them?

At first I thought this might be a guy named Jay Scott. Scott was on the anchor desk at one of the local stations for a very short time. It's a crazy story. Evidently the station was looking for new on air talent when they saw Scott on a TV located in an airport restroom. Did the promos introducing the guy say that? Oh, heck no! They said they had found him in the airport restroom. I guess they thought it was funny but everybody else took it to mean he was gay. Think of the situation 35 to 40 years ago and you realize this was not good for his career.

OK, enough gab. Is your guy Dick Goddard?
