Our mystery man visited Santa Fe, over 2 decades ago, and fell in love with the Sangre De Cristo mountains. He saw people skiing for the first time and decided it was a good sport. |

Googled that last clue and our man isn't found that way - not that was easily detected anyway. :eyeroll If I tell you his philosophy, he'll pop up #1 in a google search. I just looked. :pound He retired from political leadership of his people (for lack of better term) in 2011. |

Is this Lhamo Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso Thondup (also known as Dalai Lama 14)? Edit to add: I think my tablet's auto correct is having a nervous breakdown over this one :heh . Edited by M. Hawbaker, June 18, 2017, 12:20 pm.

:pound Yes, this is the 14th Dalai Lama. No, I'm not a fan, but his story is rather interesting - He took over the political reins of Tibet when he was only 15 years old. This article I found on his visit to New Mexico is pretty good - humorous, from the writer's viewpoint. I wasn't impressed with his "meaning of life" as told to the waitress who asked him. http://www.slate.com/articles/life/culturebox/2014/02/dalai_lama_at_a_santa_fe_ski_resort_tells_waitress_the_meaning_of_life.html |

I used to listen to CCM a lot, but not today, so it's not likely that I'd know any of the singers. I googled the clue - Award winning Christian band, and looked at the photos that appeared. I'll find somone to post tonight ... working on the business has kept me running here lately, which will hopefully pay off over the next few months. |

This lady had quite a story ... it amazes me the number of really interesting people we encounter through this game, whether I agree with them or not, I really have and do learn a lot. :D: She was born in rural Oklahoma and attended Langston University, which was segregated. She became a trailblazer, earning a masters degree from Oklahoma University. She was a history teacher in several locations around the state for over 40 years ... but her true calling seems to have been as a civil rights activist. She staged lunchcounter sit-ins, marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, and even protested at the totally segregated and privately owned Doe Doe Park in Lawton, OK in late June 1966. Who was this force to be reckoned with? Posted Image (Doe Doe Park's swimming pool was huge, still in use, and there was still an attempt to enforce segregation as late as 1979, when I first arrived here) Edited by barb43, June 22, 2017, 5:10 pm.
