:hysterical Did you tell him "which" General this was? Yep, that's Gen. Mattis with his triple-necked stratocaster named "Shock and Awe".

This actress had the female lead in a 1980 movie that was so bad it was actually good. She had minor roles in other movies and TV shows before giving up acting in favor of a long and successful career as a social worker aiding families of addicts. Posted Image |

She's very pretty, and definitely looks very 80s. I googled "1980s actress who became a social worker." Mm, boy, did I get an interesting mix of things - from gals in aerobics gear to 80s fashions & hair styles, to posters for sci fi movies and articles on the shortages of social workers. :lol . . . haven't found this gal's photo yet tho'. Will look more later. |

"1980 movie that was so bad it was actually good" is my personal opinion. Actually, it is a cult classic. |

http://half-truths-and-gorilla-dust.blogspot.com/2009/08/film-flash-gordon-1980.html I loved that movie!! I saw it on HBO - not 'quite' first run, but not long after it was out of theatres. It's been so long, I didn't recognize this actress turned social worker. This is Melody Anderson. It's really funny, now that I know who she is -- when I googled as I said above, there were movie posters of Flash Gordon that showed up along with all the 80s aerobics gear and articles on the shortages of social workers. I don't know what would have triggered the Flash Gordon posters, since I didn't name her. :shrug Back with another entry later . . . |

This gal did something in the early 1980s that no woman had ever done before her. And she did it for 3-1/2 hours. Posted Image Edited by barb43, December 8, 2016, 9:48 am.

She's Russian. An American woman did it a little later. These gals were part of a famous "race" between the 2 superpowers. |

Yes. Allen's is an interesting story too. Another actor who took up a long and successful career as a social worker. How valuable was he to Hal Roach? Consider that in 1930 the average wage in the US was $1970.00 ($37.88 weekly.) "Farina" got $350.00 per week! |

Wow! I had no idea Farina was such a hot commodity! _________________________ You may know this next man right off the bat . . . or not. He was a US Marine Corps Aviator in WWII who was recalled to active duty during the Korean War and flew 85 combat missions. In later years, he was better known as a comedian, actor, game show host, and announcer. Posted Image Edited by barb43, December 10, 2016, 3:01 pm.
