Jeremiah 32:37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

For half a century, memories of the Holocaust inoculated the Continent against overt anti-Semitism. That period has ended—the recent fatal attacks in Paris and Copenhagen are merely the latest in a mounting tide. Today, right-wing fascist strains of Jew-hatred are merging with a new threat from radicalized Islamists, confronting Europe with a crisis, and its Jews with an agonizing choice. <more>

Why take the verse in isolation outside its greater context?

Jer 32:36-42 And now therefore Jehovah, the God of Israel, saith thus concerning this city, whereof ye say, It hath been given over into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries whither I have driven them, in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God. And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me all their days, for the good of them, and of their children after them. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not draw back from them, to do them good; and I will put my fear in their heart, that they may not turn aside from me. And I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land with my whole heart and with my whole soul. For thus saith Jehovah: Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have spoken concerning them. And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

The given context regards the Babylonian captivity not today's political scene. But it looks forward to the "Day of the Lord" when He will gather the remnant of Israel into the Land under the Kingship of Christ after the Tribulation.

Today, the people of Israel do not have "one heart" or "one way" and have not received the "New Covenant". No Davidic King reigns in Zion today. The place of Israel in the world today is preliminary to the Tribulation and Great Tribulation. Israel has been restored in this day to go into the Tribulation first to receive the final outpouring of God's wrath; not at this time to receive Kingdom benefits under the Messiah.

The situation with antisemitism in Europe today for all of its news presence is little different than the pogroms executed against Jewish communities in Europe over the last several centuries. Neither has it reached the magnitude of Nazi persecution that fomented the formation of the Zionist nation in the years shortly following WWII.

Because I was in a hurry looking for a verse about Jews being brought back into the land. That was the first one I could think of and I didn't bother reading it in context as you already have surmised. That having been said, the real point of my post was the article.

Wish Martha Stewart was My Sister!
Some of my uncles fought in WWII, and they didn't tell stories of it when I was a kid so I don't know what they saw, did, thought ... I do remember the man who owned the pawn shop/military surplus store in town. He was a survivor of one of the camps during the Holocaust. His wife also survived. He would show the number tattooed on his arm & talk about being in the camp. I was fascinated by his stories!

My father hated Jews with a passion - believed they were the root of all evil in the world (for him, "Jews = $$$" :tsk ). I thought he was about 100% wrong so blew off his ideas and formed my own.

It was interesting, to me, to discover that my mother had been donating money to the charity that relocates Jews back to Israel from Russia, Germany, not sure where else. (My father would be raging if he could know. :ohno )

None of that ^^^ particularly means anything, it's just what went through my mind when I read this thread.
