WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Post says it will stop calling Washington's football team the ''Redskins'' on its editorial page. The paper's editorial board announced Friday that it will refrain from using the term that it says ''unquestionably offends not only many Native Americans but many other Americans, too.'' The board noted that it has been speaking out against the Redskins name since 1992. Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie said the announcement was therefore ''no surprise'' to the team. http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/sports-nfl/20140822/Redskins.Name-Washington.Post/ |

Being 1/4 native American, I do not find the "Redskins" name offensive at all. :shrug Granted, I am not a Redskins fan, but it has nothing to do with their team name. With all of the real problems facing our nation right now, why is everyone so obsessed with this political correctness nonsense. If someone doesn't like the name, just pick a different team to root for. Edited by M. Hawbaker, August 23, 2014, 7:06 am.

From what I have read a very large percentage of Native Americans, over 90%, don't care about the name. Part Potawatomi here and I sure don't care. Heck, I'm still stung that they made the Arkansas State U. Indians football team rename to the Red Wolves! Edited by Blackjack, August 27, 2014, 7:35 am.
