New Executive Orders on LGBT Discrimination Don't Exempt Religious Orgs

An executive order President Obama signed Monday prohibiting sexual orientation discrimination in federal hiring does not exempt faith-based organizations. The executive order amends a 1965 order prohibiting some forms of discrimination by federal contractors. The old text forbade contractors from discriminating "against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin." Obama's revision adds "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" between "sex" and "national origin."

Many religious organizations, such as World Vision, World Relief, and Catholic Charities partner with the federal government, but often receive grants, not contracts, from the government, said Stanley Carlson-Thies, director of the Institutional Religious Freedom Alliance. (World Vision, for instance, is a grant recipient but not a contractor with the federal government, said Cynthia Colin, a spokesperson for the organization.) However, federal funds for overseas relief and development are increasingly allocated by contracts, and prison services are also funded through contracts, so some religious organizations will likely be affected, Carlson-Thies said.

best answer to that? Avoid government entanglements ie tax exemptions, government grants etc. Churches and Christian organizations need to move away from that. Government is no longer an ally

I've been saying that for many years. But most 501.c3 organizations think their tax-exempt status increase the likelihood people will donate money.

I wonder how our Lord may feel about His faithful donating money to Church activities in hopes of getting a little kickback on tax day?
