A bomb squad was sweeping a Georgia courthouse after a gunman wearing a gas mask and a bulletproof vest shot a sheriff's deputy in the leg on Friday.
The suspect, identified as Dennis Marx, was shot multiple times and was killed by the sheriff's deputy while he made a beeline for the Forsyth County courthouse, officials said. Marx was carrying a smoke grenade and other explosives, many of which were homemade, and was heavily armed when he approached the courthouse, authorities said at a press conference Friday.
Investigators believed his home was possibly booby-trapped and were trying to get in.
