Police have investigated a Baptist church over a poster which suggested non-believers would burn in Hell. A 20-year-old passer-by complained the sign did not tally with the message "love thy neighbour." A police spokesman said national guidance required them to investigate the complaint that the poster was offensive and the matter had been recorded as a "hate incident." http://www.charismanews.com/us/44075-police-investigate-church-after-poster-warning-about-hell |

Because these days, anything that promotes traditional moral values or discourages sin (especially in a Christian context) is regarded as hate speech by most of our increasingly vulgar secular society. It is a natural extension of the whole "don't judge me, I'll live however I want" mentality that now saturates our mostly post-christian society. Edited by M. Hawbaker, June 5, 2014, 8:30 am.

It seems gone are the days when fire and brimstone preachers were used of the Holy Spirit to reach the otherwise unreachable. One rarely hears such sermons anymore. But believe me, when I was a young man such preaching could convict the sinners of their moral condition and cause them to dread their future prospects like no other. These days even Johnathan Edwards famous sermon, "A Sinner in the Hands of an Angry God" would not pass the liberal scruple of those who prefer the "love thy neighbor" gospel. When I was young F&B preaching was not considered hate speech, but the very truth. How times have changed. Pity the faithless sinner who passes into a Christ-less eternity only to meet that loving, but angry God, who also said "Love they neighbor". God is a loving God, but people do not deserve God's love. Instead, He sent His only begotten Son to die for sin. Only through personal belief in our Lord Jesus Christ do people find salvation. There is no salvation in any other. Good works and loving your neighbor will not save you. Oh, sinner: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Today if you hear His voice, harden not your heart! συζυγος |

So it hurt her feelings, she complained to the police, and it's recorded as a hate incident? Do I have that right? I'd think it'd be a hate incident to not warn non-believers what's in store for them. To say, "Oh, since they don't want to hear it let them go to hell, I don't know them, I don't care about them, I don't love them." Fact of the matter is it's because we love everyone that we want to warn them that if they persist in their unbelief they will be going to hell. If we hated them we'd encourage them to not believe so that they could spend eternity in hell. By the way, the 20 year old needs to read more of the bible then just that one passage. Just 4 chapters past the passage she's referencing it says this... Matt 10:32-34 32 Whoever acknowledges Me before men, I will also acknowledge him before My Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before My Father in heaven. 34 Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to being peace, but a sword. |

They should have offered an invitation to come in and hear about how Jesus provides fire insurance. |
